Planned Debt Reduction

One thing you need to consider when paying down your debt is to Increase your debt payments. Simply send more than the minimum payments on your debt. Tripling your credit card payments, will undoubtedly decrease your debt significantly.

If you have terrible credit, it may still be possible for you to get lower rates on your debt. Your situation will determine what method you will need to take. Lower interest means more of your money goes towards the principal as opposed to the creditor's pocket.

Another alternative to reducing your debt is to speak to a credit counselor. They can help show you the fastest possible path out of debt. The counselor may even suggest a debt management plan, which will help you pay off your debt in a certain amount of time. You will just need to make sure that you are searching for a reputable company.

The last suggested debt plan that you can do is settle your debt. However, debt settlement is may not be for everyone. It is recommended for you to consider settlement after you have been in debt for at least 3 or 4 months so that you can get efficient help. I will personally suggest that you consider speaking to a credit counselor first. Never the less if your debts have already been sent to collection agencies, settling your debt may be the best option for you. You will need to make sure that you are researching different settlement companies, and be prepared for the information that you receive.
